Please read our policies below before filling out an application
Filling out an application does not guarantee you an animal from our rescue. Each animal has their own specific needs therefore we do our best to place them in homes that can meet them and allow them to thrive. We understand it can be disappointing to not get the animal you want but please understand that we are putting the animal's needs first!
At Philly Rescue Angels Inc., all puppies under 6 months old must be adopted into homes with another young, playful, social dog already in the household.
We understand this requirement may not work for everyone, and we know it can sometimes feel frustrating. However, this policy exists because early socialization is one of the most important parts of a puppy’s development, especially for bully breeds and high energy dogs. Proper socialization helps puppies grow into confident, well adjusted adult dogs and can significantly reduce future behavioral issues.
Unfortunately, due to previous adopters not following through with proper socialization recommendations, and because we are unable to provide structured socialization classes at this time, we must keep this policy in place.
Anyone who has walked through an overcrowded shelter knows how many dogs end up surrendered, behaviorally struggling, or facing euthanasia due to poor socialization during puppyhood. Our goal is to set these puppies up for lifelong success and prevent them from becoming part of that cycle.
Please note that many reputable rescues and trainers follow similar puppy placement.
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Puppies under 6 months old must go to a home with another young, playful dog
• All current pets in the home must be up to date on core vaccines and spayed/neutered unless medically exempt
• Renters must provide landlord approval and proof that dogs are permitted
• Meet and greets with resident dogs may be required prior to approval
• Some dogs may have additional requirements based on their individual needs, including no cats, no children, breed experience, fenced yard requirements, or being the only pet in the home
• Adopters must be financially and physically able to provide proper veterinary care, exercise, training, and lifelong commitment for the dog
• Home checks, reference checks, or virtual home walkthroughs may be required during the adoption process
• We do not adopt dogs out as surprise gifts
• Adoption fees are non refundable
• Must sign a contract agreeing to spay/neuter the puppy at the appropriate age. Failure to do so may result in the puppy being returned to the rescue’s care
• If at any point the adopter can no longer keep the dog, the dog must be returned to Philly Rescue Angels and cannot be rehomed, sold, transferred, or surrendered to another rescue or shelter without approval
Philly Rescue Angels Inc. reserves the right to deny any application if we do not feel the placement is the best fit for the dog.
Thank you for understanding and for supporting responsible rescue and placement practices.
